One Surgical Specialists is a general surgery practice in Paramus, New Jersey. Our three surgeons are fellowship-trained in minimally invasive and robotic technique, and the practice has been performing robotic surgery longer than almost anyone in the state.
That history matters for a practical reason. Robotic and laparoscopic surgery are not simply newer versions of open surgery — they are separate skills, learned over years and hundreds of cases. Members of this practice were part of the two-surgeon team that performed the first robotic surgeries in the Northeast United States, and in July 2015 members of One Surgical Specialists started the first Robotic Surgery Fellowship in the country.
We are continually voted “Top Docs” by New Jersey Monthly. What we would rather be known for is what happens after the operation: patients who go home the same day, who need less pain medication than they expected, and who are back at work within a week.
The patient decides the approach
We specialize in both traditional open surgery and minimally invasive procedures, and we work with each patient to determine the best procedure case by case. Some patients are not candidates for a minimally invasive operation — emergencies, complex anatomy and reconstructions sometimes require open surgery. We aim for the safest, least invasive procedure with the best recovery possible.
Advanced tools, used often
The da Vinci Surgical System gives our surgeons 3D high-definition vision and instruments with a range of motion beyond the human hand. In selected operations we can work through a single incision at the belly button rather than four or five.
